A Relational, Integrative EMDR Approach

Gentle, science-informed, and deeply human.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy is a powerful, evidence-based treatment — but howit’s done matters.

With Yvonne, EMDR is not just a protocol; it’s a compassionate collaboration between you and your therapist, designed to honour your pace, your parts, and your story.

A Therapy Grounded in Relationship

Healing happens in connection.

Our EMDR approach is built on a foundation of trust, warmth, and attunement. We understand that for many clients — especially those with complex or relational trauma — safety is not automatic; it must be gently earned.

Each session is guided by curiosity, not pressure. There’s always room to pause, notice, and listen to what’s happening inside. We invite all parts of you — protective, critical, fearful, or hopeful — to have a voice in the process.

Clients often describe our approach as steady, calming, and real.

It’s a space where you don’t have to “get it right”; you just have to show up as you are.

What Makes This EMDR Approach Different

Our work combines EMDR with key principles from Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and somatic awareness, creating a holistic, gentle process that supports both emotional and nervous system safety.

IFS-Informed EMDR

In IFS-informed EMDR, every part of you is welcome. Before reprocessing, we help you connect with protective parts that may feel anxious about going “too deep.” This ensures that all internal systems feel seen and safe, allowing reprocessing to unfold naturally rather than forcefully.

Attachment-Informed EMDR

Trauma often happens in relationships — so healing through EMDR also happens in relationship. We work relationally, offering attuned presence and co-regulation. This makes EMDR particularly suitable for clients healing from childhood neglect, emotional deprivation, or relational trauma.

Somatic & Mindfulness Integration

EMDR is a body-based therapy at heart.

Throughout your sessions, we will help you notice body sensations, grounding cues, and nervous system shifts. This gentle awareness builds capacity for emotional regulation, resilience, and self-trust.

Telehealth-Adapted EMDR

Our online EMDR approach integrates grounding cues, visual resources, and screen-based bilateral stimulation.

Clients often find this format surprisingly soothing — they can stay wrapped in their own blanket, surrounded by comforting sensory cues, while receiving the same quality of therapeutic presence and care.

Calm, Connected, Collaborative Style

Our style combines the structure of EMDR with the softness of relational therapy.

It’s ideal for clients who value both science and sensitivity — people who want to understand the process while feeling emotionally held and respected.

Each session moves between:

  • Connection and safety building
  • Gentle exploration and processing
  • Integration and reflection

You’ll never be pushed to revisit distress before your system is ready. Healing is paced according to your nervous system, not the clock.

Who This Approach Can Help

This integrative EMDR style is particularly effective for:

  • Complex or developmental trauma
  • Attachment wounds and relational difficulties
  • Persistent anxiety, shame, or self-criticism
  • Burnout, perfectionism, or performance pressure
  • Grief, loss, and unresolved emotional pain

It’s also suitable for clients who feel “stuck” — repeating old patterns despite insight or effort — and want a therapy that goes beyond talking into deeper, experiential change.

Check Fit: Are We the Right Fit?

Is Therapy with us the Right Fit?

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the healing process.

Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and supported — and when we’re both confident that our style and approach are a good match for your needs.

This page is designed to help you decide whether working together might be a good fit — and to help us ensure we can offer the right kind of support for you.

How We Work

We offer therapy that is gentle, relational, and trauma-informed, integrating:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as a core modality
  • Parts- and attachment-informed approaches (IFS-inspired)
  • Somatic awareness, mindfulness, and compassion-based strategies
  • Elements of ACT, DBT, CBT, and EFT where helpful

We work collaboratively and at your pace — helping you build resources for emotional safety and self-understanding before moving into deeper trauma processing.

We're a Good Fit If You’re Looking For…

  • A safe, supportive space to explore and make sense of what’s happening inside
  • Therapy that honours your pace and readiness, especially around trauma or attachment themes
  • Support for anxiety, burnout, grief, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or relationship patterns
  • A therapist who integrates EMDR with parts-work and helps you connect to your inner world
  • Someone who values both depth and practicality — insight that also leads to change

We Might Not Be the Best Fit If…

  • You’re looking for reports, or medico-legal documentation
  • You want a purely skills-based or short-term CBT approach
  • You’re seeking crisis or emergency support (We're not available for same-day or after-hours contact)
  • You’re looking for couples or family therapy (We currently offer individual therapy only)
  • You prefer a very directive or prescriptive style — our approach is collaborative and exploratory

Before Booking

Before booking your first session, please:

  1. Read our What Is EMDR and Getting Started pages to understand what therapy with us involves.
  2. Reflect on your goals — what would you like to feel, understand, or shift through therapy?
  3. Consider availability and readiness — EMDR and parts-informed work require regular attendance and a willingness to engage gently but honestly with your inner world.

If You’re Still Unsure

If you’ve read through these pages and still feel uncertain, that’s completely okay.
You’re welcome to get in touch to ask any questions or share what you’re hoping for from therapy.

If it sounds like we could be a good match, we’ll guide you toward the next step.

In some cases, we may suggest another therapist who might better meet your current needs.
