Steadier Ground: A 6-Week Online EMDR Program

Life’s challenges can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by old patterns of thinking and reacting. Steadier Ground is a 6-week online EMDR program designed to help you process what feels “too much,” reduce distress, and strengthen your ability to cope with life’s ups and downs. Whether you’re new to therapy, curious about EMDR, or wondering if this approach is right for you, this program offers a clear, structured way to experience EMDR in a supportive, short-term format.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-researched therapy originally developed for trauma, now used to treat anxiety, grief, phobias, performance blocks, and longstanding stress patterns.


Instead of just talking about problems, EMDR helps the brain “digest” difficult experiences so they no longer feel as raw or overwhelming. By using bilateral stimulation (gentle side-to-side eye movements, tapping, or sounds), EMDR activates the brain’s natural healing processes. This often leads to distressing memories losing their intensity and becoming easier to live with.


Research shows EMDR is effective for trauma, PTSD, and a wide range of issues:

  • The World Health Organization and Australian Psychological Society recommend EMDR as a frontline treatment for trauma.
  • Studies consistently show EMDR can reduce symptoms faster than traditional talk therapy for some people.
  • Many clients report not only less distress but also new insights, self-compassion, and freedom from patterns that once felt fixed.

Clearing Up Misconceptions

Because EMDR is different from traditional talk therapy, it can feel unfamiliar at first. Some people wonder if it’s like hypnosis, but EMDR does not involve suggestion or loss of control; instead, you remain awake, aware, and in charge throughout the process. Others worry that EMDR might erase memories, but it doesn’t. You keep the memory, while its painful intensity fades, often leaving it feeling more “in the past” instead of intruding on the present.


Another common question is whether EMDR is only for trauma. While trauma was its original focus, EMDR is now used successfully for anxiety, grief, phobias, performance issues, and recurring negative patterns. And although people sometimes worry about being overwhelmed, EMDR is paced carefully. We spend time upfront building resources, like a calm place, grounding strategies, and a stop signal, so you have tools to steady yourself and feel supported every step of the way.

Why an Online EMDR Program?

Traditional therapy often runs week-to-week without a clear end point. This program offers a focused, short-term alternative: six structured sessions delivered online. It’s designed for people who want to:

  • Try EMDR in a safe, supported way.
  • Address a specific challenge or stressor.
  • Build coping strategies and feel more grounded.
  • Decide whether to continue with longer-term therapy.

How the Program Works?

The program is divided into two phases:

Part One: Foundations & First Steps (Weeks 1–3)

We begin with safety, clarity, and gentle reprocessing. This includes:

  • Building trust and preparing for EMDR
  • Learning calming and grounding strategies you can use anytime
  • Exploring your goals and identifying a key memory to work on
  • Beginning early reprocessing (e.g., starting with a less intense memory, a recent trigger, or a mild target that feels safe enough to process)

This way, you experience both the grounding tools and a gentle taste of EMDR reprocessing right from the start. This is the best starting point if you’re new to EMDR, new to therapy, or unsure how much you can manage right now. We’ll focus on safety, resourcing, and give you a first experience of reprocessing in a gentle, contained way. Many people choose Part one to build confidence and see how EMDR feels before moving into deeper work.


Part Two: Deepening & Integration (Weeks 4–6)

With the groundwork in place, we then:

  • Focus on the key target memory (often the most distressing or central one)
  • Use EMDR to safely reprocess the experience
  • Integrate shifts and new perspectives that emerge
  • Strengthen the changes so you can carry them into daily life

This is ideal if you already have some EMDR experience or feel ready to go further. We’ll spend more time with reprocessing and begin linking your work to the present and future. Some clients repeat Part two more than once if they don’t require additional resourcing but wish to continue reprocessing the same memory, or related memories, at a deeper level.


Each session runs for 90 minutes. By the end, you’ll have both direct EMDR experience and practical skills to support yourself in everyday life. Every version of the program includes:

  • Pre- and post-questionnaires to track progress.
  • Extra 15-min check-in calls after reprocessing sessions.
  • Gentle, personalised guidance throughout.


If you know you’re ready to commit to the full 6 weeks, this option allows us to keep momentum, move through resourcing and reprocessing smoothly, and complete a full cycle of work together.

Who Is This Program For?

This program is suitable if you:

  • Have experienced a single-event trauma (e.g., accident, medical event, loss, assault)
  • Have a specific memory that continues to affect you
  • Are looking for a short-term, focused EMDR approach
  • Ffeel stable and resourced enough for a contained reprocessing program
  • Feel comfortable using online sessions


Who Is This Program Not For?

This program may not be right if you:

  • Are in immediate crisis or feeling unsafe
  • Experience frequent dissociation without strong grounding skills
  • Want to work on multiple complex traumas at once
  • Do not have reliable internet or a private space for sessions

What You Can Expect to Gain

Requirements for Joining

  • A device with stable internet, webcam, and microphone
  • A private, comfortable space for uninterrupted sessions
  • Willingness to focus on one memory/theme at a time

Fees & Rebates

Fees & Payment

Each session in the program is 90 minutes, giving us the time and space needed to settle in, do the work, and close with care.

  • Part One or Two (3 sessions): $1200 ($1080 when you pay within 48 hours of sign-up)
  • Full Program (6 sessions): $2400 ($2160 when you pay within 48 hours of sign-up)

Payment is due 7 days before the program starts.


Medicare rebates

With a valid GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan, most clients receive a rebate of $145.25 per session. This brings down the out-of-pocket cost significantly.


Refunds and cancellations

Our usual refund policy applies: at least 2 business days’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer your place to someone on the waitlist.

If you have a single-event trauma or a specific memory that continues to trouble you, this program offers a structured and safe way to reprocess it.
